ARTICULATION
-
Articulation is the movement of mouth muscles and articulators in order to produce speech sounds.

-
A child may substitute one sound for another, leave sounds out, add sounds, or distort a sound, making it difficult to understand their speech.

-
Individual sounds typically develop by certain ages. Sounds that are not developed by that age, may indicate an articulation disorder.

-
The SLP will work with your child to correct the production of the sounds made in error by working through a hierarchy to mastery.
